What is an MMF ringtone?

MMF is a file format defined by the SMAF format which stands for "Synthetic music Mobile Application Format", and is a data format specified by YAMAHA that defines multimedia content for use on hand-held portable devices, such as mobile phones (including Samsung phones) and PDAs. The YAMAHA MA-1, MA-2, MA-3,and MA-5 sound chips are in many of today's mobile phones and other hand-held devices. Any device incorporating one of these chips is capable of playing MMF sound files.
